The Head is a being composed of hundreds of alien specialists from different fields working together in unison, and serves as the highest authority in the Hive. As a whole, the Head handles important decisions as well as the collection of information and knowledge about the Centrium, its inhabitants, and the other worlds that they come from. Due to consisting of many different individuals, the Head can lose its form or change shape (which can also be altered via a pinscreen-like device). The translation gas is needed for the individuals within the Head; without it, they cannot work together to form it properly, as seen in Diminishing Discourse.
Appearance[]
Since it is composed of many different individuals, as a whole the Head appears as the basic shape of a head with two eyes and a mouth composed of many small, moving dots which are usually bluish, yellowish or white in color. The Head is also able to change its appearance into other shapes and symbols.
